Bomb Block

Bomb Blocks are a type of block that can detonate, as indicated by a bomb icon on it. They cannot be inhaled, but they can be activated when Kirby attacks them, even with a Slide or Air Bullet. Normally, their use consists of clearing adjacent blocks, Star Blocks, metal blocks, etc, or turning portions of solid walls to rubble. Most often this clears a new path for Kirby. Occasionally a rogue bomb block will actually drop a wall down to obstruct Kirby either instead of, or in addition to, clearing the path.
Most bomb blocks are easily activated, and in games such as Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby: Triple Deluxe, are used as part of the tutorial to teach players how to use the Slide. Other times, bomb blocks are put in harder to reach places (such as inside walls or ceilings) and require the use of Copy Abilities to detonate. Examples of these could be the use of Beam to reach through a wall, or Laser to bounce off a slope and ricochet towards the ceiling. In these cases, the bomb block usually opens a path to healing items, a Maxim Tomato, Point Stars, or even a main collectible like a Treasure.

Bomb Blocks have appeared in many Kirby games, and their exact behavior can vary based on the game, though it always has the same behavior in the main series. The following table lists every appearance, and the sections below detail some more notable ones:
Kirby's Adventure marks the first appearance of Bomb Blocks in the series. Since their debut in this game, they have changed little outside of specific instances highlighted below.
In both versions of Kirby's Star Stacker, Bomb Blocks occasionally rise when the opponent's fist pounds the ground and adds a new row to the play field. The bomb blocks can be detonated by matching any two pairs either below and above, or to the left and right of it. When detonated, the bomb will eliminate the entire row of blocks beside it.
In Kirby: Canvas Curse, Bomb Blocks can be activated by tapping them with the Nintendo DS stylus, in addition to using a regular move or attack. Notably, Bomb Blocks in the successor game Kirby and the Rainbow Curse cannot be tapped in this way.
