A Starryflower is a common object, appearing in Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. It is a crystalline flower that can be found exclusively in Starry Stages. There are two sizes of Starryflower, known as a Small Starryflower and a Big Starryflower. Small Starryflowers are initially closed, but interacting with them will cause the flower to break open with a distinctive sound, spreading the crystal energy to the area around it and revealing Starry Coins or other items.
Big Starryflowers, on the other hand, need to be broken with an attack to be broken open. These variants will typically have a greater effect on the surrounding area, such as creating new platforms needed to progress the stage or to find a lost Starry. A specific Big Starryflower in the Star-Crossed World stage is able to create Copy Essences.
In addition to being found in Starry Stages, Big Starryflowers can also be found in The Ultimate Cup Z EX. They spawn during both variations of Chaos Elfilis's Deadly Sun Grazer attack and need to be broken to provide safety from the burning heat or to be used to jump over the attack.
Adaptation appearances[edit]
Kirby novel series[edit]
In the Kirby novel series, Starryflowers make an appearance in Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Meteoric Star-Crossed World. They first appear when Kirby and company are exploring the newly crystallized region, where Kirby activates a Big Starryflower by tripping over it. Kirby and co. are left confused over what happened. Astronomer Waddle Dee mentions that they seem different from the other crystals and that it may also have come from space. Two more appear later on, where one helps Astronomer Waddle Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight to reach another Starry and the other helps Kirby and Bandana Waddle Dee to avoid poison puddles. The last Big Starryflower appears later on as Kirby and co. reach the end of the cavern beneath the volcanic island. Upon breaking it open, it creates multiple Copy Essences. This confuses the group as to how the Starryflower knew about Kirby's Copy Ability, with Elfilin assuming it was the work of the new world people. They theorize that the new world scientists may have researched the Copy Abilities on Planet Popstar, and that that might be the reason behind why the Starryflower created the evolved Copy Essences.
