Land Barbar[Japanese title], also known as Pipe Barbar in the game files, is an enemy that debuted in Kirby: Triple Deluxe, first encountered in Endless Explosions - Stage 2. It can only be defeated with the Hypernova ability. Land Barbar makes only one other appearance, in Royal Road - Stage 8 EX.
Land Barbar resembles a basic Barbar, but (implied by its name) it lives on land, occupying large pipes that swivel between the foreground and background. It bears a striking magenta coloration, and has a blue star on its tongue.
When Kirby has the Hypernova ability, he can swallow the Land Barbar whole by inhaling when the Barbar's tongue is sticking out after an attempted chomp. Kirby needs to be on the same level as the Barbar to do this, as he will need to engage in a brief tug-o-war with the creature's tongue before he can swallow it. After the Barbar is gone, Kirby can use its pipe to travel.
Trivia[edit]
- For some reason, Land Barbars appear significantly longer than the pipes they inhabit. However, this may be an exaggerated cartoon effect.
