Random Copy Essence is an item that appears in Kirby: Planet Robobot, later reappearing in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. It resembles a Copy Essence or a Bubble from Kirby: Squeak Squad. In addition to appearing occasionally in stages, it can be acquired as a Souvenir Item in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe via Stamp Rally and Souvenir Shop Waddle Dee, though the item does not have a pedestal or other external feature besides the bubble itself.
As its name implies, the Random Copy Essence will give Kirby a "random" Copy Ability if he touches it. When found in a stage, it cycles through abilities about as fast—and in the same order—as the Mix roulette. However, when used as a souvenir item, the Random Copy Essence cycles through its ability selection more slowly, becoming even slower if left out in the open for a while. As such, it is much easier to time it if the player wants a specific ability from the item. In either situation, as soon as Kirby gets an ability from the essence, it disappears.
In Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, the Random Copy Essence souvenir item can be used any time during a stage by holding the X button to make it appear above Kirby's head. Once it appears, it will fall slowly until it hits the ground, or if Kirby touches or inhales it. It can also be summoned in this game by using certain amiibo in Story Mode, Extra Mode, The Arena and The True Arena.
