Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Rinkah is a level 4 Oni Savage in Chapter 4 of Birthright and Chapter 9 of Revelation. She comes with serviceable bases since she starts sooner than other units. Her standout stat is her defense at ten, giving some decent early tanking. However, she can't retaliate as well as she could due to starting with an E in axes, only allowing the weakest weapons to be used, and she can't double enemies until her good speed growth does its work. For growths, she is decently balanced aside from her low magic and resistance growths, lowish luck growth, and great defense growth.

Rinkah starts with her personal skill Fiery Blood, and Oni Savage's first skill of Seal Resistance. Fiery Blood allows her to deal four extra damage when not at full HP. The skill is quite reliable, as it can still activate frequently even after her high defense growth kicks in, with even a one damage chip activating it. Seal Resistance gives some useful early game debuffing, though it will be a bit of time for the first dedicated magic user, Orochi, is recruited. At level ten, she gets Shove as a way to give additional movement options to other units.

Despite Rinkah's low magic base and growth, Oni Chieftain is generally her better standard promotion option, as the tome access is usually more valuable than the sword access that Blacksmith offers, even at E-rank. Moreover, the higher magic from Chieftain allows Rinkah to make excellent use of the Bolt Axe acquired in Chapter 14 of Birthright, granting her unrestricted 1-2 ranged combat, and its massive 14 Might making up for Rinkah's poor magic to easily reach one-round thresholds against many foes, especially with Fiery Blood active. The skills from Oni Cheiftain aren't too relevant for Rinkah. Death Blow increases her chance for a critical hit by 20 when initiating combat, which the Bolt Axe can never do, though she can do some crit-centered Great Club strategies easier with the skill somewhat, and Counter allows her to deal damage back to her opponent, which is usually inconsequential thanks to Rinkah's high defense. The other promotion of Blacksmith is not nearly as useful. It has inferior bulk to Oni Chieftain, lacks any good 1-2 range options aside from the lackluster Throwing Club and Kodachi, gives arguably worse pair up stats, and has generally worse damage output as resistance is typically the lower defensive stat on most enemies. For skills, Blacksmith gives Salvage Blow and Lancebreaker. Salvage Blow is largely redundant in the late game due to only giving iron weaponry, but Lancebreaker is an amazing skill for better hit and avoid against lances, which are a very common weapon type.

Rinkah's base reclass option is Ninja, which can work with enough investment, though she isn't a strong contender for a Heart Seal, as other units like Mozu may desire it more, and it doesn't fully utilize her strengths as a tanky enemy-phase unit and a strong pair-up partner. However, if the player is set on using it, it's not the worst thing in the world. Shurikens are another way to access good 1-2 range weapons, and she'll start doubling some enemies with the additional speed reclassing and from shurikens giving +2 speed, though her damage output is hampered with a reduced strength stat and growth, but this be remedied a bit with a Strength Tonic. It also greatly increases her accuracy, both in stat, growth, and weapon stats. Locktouch and Poison Strike are both useful utility skills that most units can use. Between the two promotion choices, it somewhat come down to personal preference. Master Ninja keeps her fast and accurate, while also gaining a large amount of resistance. In addition, Master Ninja's gain innate bonuses of +5 hit, crit, avoid, and dodge. Access to swords gives her a higher damage option than shurikens, and katanas still give one point of additional speed. Lethality is quite an unreliable skill and is usually not worth being used. Shurikenfaire gives +5 damage when using shurikens, easily making up some potential damage deficiencies. Mechanist instead gives her more damage in the form of more strength than Master Ninja, gaining high powered bows, and increasing her strength growth a bit. She'll also balanced out her bulk more than Master Ninja. Golembane is a very situational skill, as the enemies it affects don't frequently show up except for other Mechanists in skirmishes or in Valla when playing Revelation, and Stoneborn in some maps. Replicate allows Rinkah to create a clone that shares the same health bar. While her high bulk can make death less likely, the player should still keep that fact in mind when positioning her against enemies.

Rinkah can also gain additional classes via Friendship Seals in order to pick up useful skills, or good alternate classes. Orochi is an excellent option, as her pair up bonuses (magic and speed) help Rinkah secure follow-up attacks and improve her damage output with the Bolt Axe, or tomes as a Chieftain. Rinkah also gains access to the Diviner class, allowing her to learn valuable skills like Magic +2 as well as Tomefaire from Onmyoji, further boosting her offensive power. If she goes through the Basara line, she can acquire Quixotic, which grants a massive +30 Hit bonus, effectively fixing her accuracy issues. The skill's downside is negligible for her, as the Bolt Axe already has an innate Avoid penalty, and her high defense minimizes damage from physical attacks, making Quixotic mostly a pure benefit. Rend Heaven can also be a good offensive skill, though her lower skill reduces it proc chance, but Quixotic can make up for the lack by innately increasing its proc. Oboro’s pair up bonuses consist of strength, skill, and speed as a Spear Master. Giving the Spear Fighter class, Rinkah can promote to Basara just like with Diviner, but instead gains Spear Master for a new class, which gives higher amounts of accuracy than Chieftain in both the +6 skill reclassing, and the higher accuracy of lances. This also gives her access to another faire skill in Lancefaire, as well as additional debuffing skills in Seal Defense and Seal Speed In the Revelation route, Charlotte is also a very good partner, where she fully capitalizes on offensive power by giving a whopping +7 strength and respectable +4 speed as a Berserker, and Rinkah gains access to Fighter for another axe fighting class. The top skills Rinkah can access are Axebreaker for a huge accuracy boost, but only if she is fighting axes, which are not uncommon, and Axefaire to boost the damage of the weapon she will wield the most.
