Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

The Double Bow (Japanese: バルフレチェ Valfleche) is a bow which was introduced in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Said to be the work of an unidentified master craftsman,[1] it possesses different and unique ranges between its appearances: in Path of Radiance, it has a unique range of 4, which is twice as far as the range of the usual, whereas in Radiant Dawn it instead is capable of attacking both at close range and at a distance, as per crossbows. Awakening has it act as a statistically vastly improved Longbow.

At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants
Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit, inflicts penalty on
foe's Atk/Spd/Def = 8 - number of allies
adjacent to unit × 2 (min 0), and reduces
damage from foe's first attack by 20% of
unit's Spd during combat ("first attack"
normally means only the first strike; for effects
that grant "unit attacks twice," it means the
first and second strikes), and unit's next attack
deals damage = total damage reduced from
foe's first attack (by any source, including

Trivia

  • The Double Bow and Nidhogg are the only weapons which give a higher equipping stat bonus in Awakening (+5 strength in the Double Bow's case) than they did in their original games (+3 strength).

Double Bow

Japanese

バルフレチェ

Referred to as LONGLONGBOW in the internal data of Path of Radiance, and as VALFLECHE in the internal data of Radiant Dawn. The latter spelling and the katakana may be derived from the French words val, an antiquated term for "valley", and flèche, "arrow".

Spanish

• Balfleche
• Arco doble

• Transliteration of the Japanese name, which interprets it as the French balflèche, "ball arrow". This name is used only in Path of Radiance.
• Double Bow; this name is used in Radiant Dawn, Awakening, and Heroes.
