| “ | Guess I'd rather write a story about an epic quest than be on one myself. Though I imagine being left out would feel even worse... | ” | — Genny |

Genny (Japanese: ジェニー Jenny) is a cleric and a follower of Mila appearing in Fire Emblem Gaiden and its remake, Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. She is a friend of Celica.
Fire Emblem Gaiden
Role
Genny is the first healing unit, a cleric, to join Celica's group.
Genny stayed at the Novis monastery with Celica and Nomah. She accompanies Celica on her journey to the Temple of Mila in the north.

- In Gaiden, promotion gains give the character as many points as necessary—the "x" value shown in the table—to reach the promoted class' base stats. If the character's stats are higher than their promoted class' base stats, they will not receive any bonus; however, if all stats are higher, then they will receive +1 to HP.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Role
Genny, like in Gaiden has lived in the priory for most of her life and is familiar with Celica. She was left at the priory some years ago by her mother. She is an optional recruit, and Celica can opt to not bring her along. Either way, her story role is minimal past her recruitment.

Analysis
| This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience. |
Genny is the only cleric available on Celica's route, other than Faye if you recruit her on Celica's route, and as such is the only healer in Celica's army until either Boey or Mae promote or until Celica learns Recover. Genny starts off with decent bases in Attack, Speed, and Luck, as well as an incredibly high Resistance stat, but comes along with very low HP and Defense. Genny also has fairly mediocre growths in every are besides skill and attack. Genny can be a bit annoying to train up as her only attacking spell until promotion is Nosferatu which is unreliable due to always having an accuracy of 60. However, once she gains a few levels, she will start to prove her worth very quickly. At level 4, she will learn Invoke, which lets her summon a bunch of weak and disposable soldiers useful for baiting enemies. At level 12, she will learn Expel, which is useful for completing the terror-infested maps of Celica's route quickly as long as it hits. Most importantly, she learns Physic at level 8. Physic is very valuable because the maps on Celica's route often have terrain that slows down movement and as such, Physic allows her to support units from a distance. Many combat units on Celica's route, such as Leon, Boey, and Catria, will get worn down quickly when performing their tasks, and Physic is one of the best ways to counteract this and allow these units to be used more aggressively. Upon promotion, Genny will also get the very useful Seraphim spell, which will let her be used for offensive purposes if there is no one to heal during a turn, especially against Terrors. She also gains a boost in HP, which is very valuable due to her poor HP base and growth. It is recommended to give her the Blessed Ring as soon as it is acquired, as this allows her to regenerate her HP.
Overall, Genny is a very valuable unit during all of Celica's route due to her healing utility. She is a bit difficult to train up on faster playthroughs due to Nosferatu being a bad spell, but she is still a worthwhile investment for her Physic spell and one of the best units on Celica's route.

Genny/Heroes
There are two different variations of Genny available in Heroes.
Personality
In the original Gaiden, Genny had little characterization. Having only two lines of dialogue, when recruited she states she is happy to travel with Celica and heal the group's injuries.
Her personality was expanded a fair bit in the remake. She is a soft spoken girl, and was initially quite frightened of traveling across Valentia with Celica.[1] Genny seems to have a fondness of men older than her, she states that this is due to a feeling of being taken care of that an older man gives her.[2]
Genny has a dislike of her mother for abandoning her at the priory, it is possible this abandonment is what has led to her desire to feel taken care of. She is uncomfortable and nervous around people that remind her of her mother.[3] She tries to not let this affect her friendships with women that look similar to her mother, though she has some difficulty with speaking around them.[4]
One of Genny's hobbies is writing stories.[5] In particular, she has plans to write a story about a princess who finds her father.[6]

Ending
Gaiden
Though no one could have possibly dreamed of it happening, it's said that she fell in love with one of her companions. Who in the world could that person be? Her only answer is a smile.
Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
After falling in a most unlikely love, Genny wed a man no one would ever expect. As for whom she married, exactly, no one can say—whenever her friends asked, she replied only with a smile and an enigmatic laugh.
