Shiva (Japanese: シヴァ Shiva) is a playable Sword Fighter in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776.

Biography

Shiva was a mercenary. Around the year 776, Shiva was employed by Lifis to protect his base at the Corsair Isles. When Safy, a priest held captive by Lifis arrived at the base, Shiva warned Lifis not to harm her. Not long after, the Corsair Isles would be attacked by the Fiana Freeblades, led by Prince Leif of Leonster, leading to the defeat of the Lifis Pirates. Shiva escaped the fighting, and went to work for a group of bandits in the proximity of Meath. Here, he would meet back with Safy, who convinced him to fight for Leif, whom he accompanied until the liberation of Munster.

Role

Shiva is a playable character. In Chapter 2x, he appears as a stationary enemy unit. If he is left alive or captured, Shiva will appear along with a group of Mercenaries as enemy units in Chapter 7. Here, he is recruited when talked to by Safy.

Analysis

This character analysis section may not be accurate to every player's experience.

Shiva is a standard Sword Fighter who joins in chapter 7. He comes with solid bases and growths, an action star, a very high FCM of 4, a very high sword rank, Sol, and upon promotion Adept. However, while Shiva can reliably kill with the Killing Edge, Shiva's mediocre strength base will hurt his ability to kill bulkier opponents, and his growth is insufficient to fix it without considerable investment. He can't always use a Killing Edge either, as there are only a few obtainable before chapter 15, and other units like Fergus or Machyua will also want to use them to guarantee a crit. Shiva is also fairly frail when he joins, and his magic base of zero makes him especially vulnerable to magic-using enemies. This low magic base also means his damage output with magic swords is poor. Even if he is raised up as a combat unit, the low enemy quality in Thracia 776 means that most other units will have similar combat to Shiva, but often with other utility, such as having a mount or access to staves.

Overall, Shiva can serve as a solid combat unit and backup boss-killer throughout the entire game given his access to many great swords, one of the best weapon types in Thracia 776, but he will have a hard time standing out from most of the cast in most situations.
