Hello! I am an Ecuadorian/Mexican mineral collector with a lifelong passion for minerals. My journey began at the age of 8 when my brother bought several magazines about minerals, which included free mineral specimens. After he lost interest, I took over the collection and continued to expand it at my own pace.

As a child, I would often pick up rock fragments from the school yard. These fragments often contained quartz, calcite, pyrite, epidote, and chalcopyrite, sourced from local quarries in the neighboring cantons of Guayaquil. I also received minerals from time to time as gifts from my mom, who brought them from Mexico, and I found some at the local market in Guayaquil.

I had to pause my hobby during high school because obtaining minerals in Ecuador was difficult and expensive unless you collected them yourself. Most minerals available were from Peru, and tracking their origins was challenging. After high school, I pursued a bachelor's degree in geology at the University of Guayaquil, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Later, I enrolled at the National Autonomous University of Mexico to pursue a master's degree in earth sciences.

However, I had to take another hiatus due to PTSD following COVID-19. This condition prevented me from continuing my master's studies or working for two years. Currently, I am transitioning to a career as a data analyst, mainly due to the limited job prospects for geologists in Mexico and Ecuador.

I collect minerals from around the world, with a focus on specimens from Ecuador and Mexico. Presently, I am specializing in mineral paragenesis, particularly secondary minerals, pegmatites, and hydrothermal alteration minerals.
