Mindat.org is a scientific database based on the contributions of its members.

Important. All use of mindat.org is bound by the following terms and conditions, these apply whether you are a registered user or not.

Mindat.org contains information about the location of mineral deposits worldwide. This information is stored for research and reference purposes only, and such information does not indicate that the locality is currently open for collectors to visit, or even that material can still be found at that location. Never visit a site listed on mindat.org to collect unless you have the permission of the landowners (and mineral rights owners where necessary), and that you are aware of all safety precautions necessary. Irresponsible use of information provided here will inevitably result in a reluctance for people to post new information to the site, and will hurt everybody.

Any attempt to visit any locality listed on mindat.org is entirely at your own risk, and mindat.org cannot be held liable for any injuries, loss of life, loss of property, loss of earnings or any other issue due acting on information taken from this website.

Any photographs, images, articles or messageboard comments you post to mindat.org remain your copyright material unless you specify otherwise, however by posting such material you grant mindat.org non-exclusive and irrevocable rights to continue to use and display such material on mindat.org.

We reserve the right to offer low-resolution thumbnail versions of your images for example via the OpenGraph protocol for use in inbound links to the site, but critically, those thumbnail images do still remain your copyright. They can only be used by us for the specific use of promoting an inbound link to the photo page or another page on mindat that directly relates it (eg a locality where your image is the head photo, or an article where the images is significant.) Text descriptions are regarded as part of the mindat database however as they may be edited by others (managers, etc) without prior warning.

Contributions you make to the mineral & locality database (including adding/editing descriptions and image descriptions) become part of the standard mindat.org copyright.

Any further use of your material (for example, commercial use on T-shirts, books, etc) will only be carried out with your explicit permission.

Because this site contains the copyright material of other members, you agree not to try to extract information from this site for any other use than viewing of this website material. You are not allowed to archive non-trivial portions of this site and you are not allowed to copy data from this site for use in any other product or website.

Mindat.org reserves the right to allow or deny access to any or all of the site or its facilities to any user without prior warning. This site is free to use and comes with no warranties as to the accuracy or suitability of information provided whatsoever.
