A uranium/silver mine.

Eldorado Mining and Refining (a Crown Corporation) operated mines from 1940's to 1960's.
The mineral claims were transferred to Echo Bay Mines Ltd. in 1964, which operated the Echo Bay mine to 1974, and then re-worked the Port Radium mine to 1982.

The ore deposit worked by the Eldorado Mine is one of the most extensive examples of a class of ore deposit known generally as the five-element type. The name derives from the dominance of the principal stage of mineral deposition by Ag-Co-Ni-As-Bi but is somewhat deceptive because it implies simplicity. Actually many ore deposits in this class are considerably more complex beginning with the presence, in a few, of major amounts of uranium oxide. The Eldorado mine, along with some of the ore deposits of the Jachymov district in the Czech Republic, are the best examples of the uranium-rich variant of the five-element ore deposit type.

No five-element ore district has received adequate scientific investigation. A general overview is given by Kissin (1992).
