Chase Mario with the Toads, and try to catch him.
— In-game description

Mario Chase is one of the twelve attractions included in Nintendo Land. It is also one of the three competitive attractions. The full title for the attraction is "Mario Chase: The Great Getaway", which was previously named "Mario Chase: Hot Pursuit" during development.[1] The game is a proper expansion of the Wii U tech demo Chase Mii.

In the game, the GamePad player controls a Mii dressed up as Mario while the Wii Remote players control Miis dressed up as different colored Toads. The Mario Mii's goal is to successful avoid being caught by the Toads during the time limit, and the Toad Mii's goal is to capture Mario within the time limit. The attraction is based on the Mario series. To earn the star attraction for Mario Chase, the player must play the attraction 30 times.

Gameplay

A team of up to four players use Wii Remotes to control four different colored Toads to catch one player as Mario using the GamePad. The four Toad variants are Blue Toad for player 1, Purple Toad for player 2, Green Toad for player 3, and Yellow Toad for player 4. The player(s) controlling Toads move with D-pad and press 2 to tackle, causing them to lunge forward in a straight line before faceplanting on the ground which stuns them. Mario is controlled with Control stick, and has to evade the other players. The person using the GamePad views a smaller screen of their perspective and has access to a map, which details where the opposing players are and when items spawn on the map. If there are less than 4 or 5 players, the Toads will be given two Yoshi Carts to assist them in catching Mario. The Yoshi Carts will state what zone Mario is in and use their tongues shaped after boxing gloves to stun them. The Yoshi Carts also have flags on their backs to make them easier to track

The objective for the Toads is to catch Mario before the timer runs out, and the objective for Mario is to evade the Toads until the timer finished, with the game being 2 minutes long. When playing the game with 2-3 players, each map will be smaller, but when playing the game with 4-5 players, each map will be larger.

Hints

This section is incomplete. You can help MiiWiki by expanding it.
  • Press 2 on the Wii Remote to tackle.
  • Press start to pause the game. You can calibrate controllers while paused.
  • Stages are divided into four colored areas. When you see Mario, let your teammates know where he is and where he is going!
  • The Yoshi Cart will chase Mario from behind, so your best bet is to bring Toad in from the front or side.
  • When a Yoshi Cart finds Mario, the flag on its back will shoot up. Remember that where there's a flag, there's Mario!
