Email Import

Import mail from a previous provider into a Hostinger mailbox over IMAP using hPanel's Email Import tool, with progress tracking, retries, and tips.

Bring your mail history over from a previous provider. hPanel connects to your old mailbox over IMAP and copies its contents into your Hostinger mailbox — no desktop client juggling.

What you need

  • Your old mailbox's email address and password

  • Its IMAP server name — the wizard suggests it for popular providers (Gmail, Titan, GoDaddy, OVH, Zoho, Namecheap, IONOS, and many more); for others, find it in your provider's help pages

Note: Providers like Gmail may require an app-specific password for IMAP access instead of your regular login. Check your old provider's security settings if the connection fails.

Run an import

  1. Open Email Import under your email domain and add a new import request.

  2. Import from — the old address, password, and IMAP server.

  3. Import to — the destination Hostinger mailbox.

  4. Review the summary and start.

Track progress

The requests table shows each import with its status — Scheduled, Importing (with progress and an ETA), Completed, Failed, or Cancelled — and refreshes automatically. You can cancel a running import or retry a failed one.

Import time depends on how much data the old mailbox holds; large mailboxes can take a while.

Tips

  • Make sure the destination mailbox has enough storage for the incoming data.

  • Keep the old mailbox active until the import completes and you've confirmed everything arrived.

  • Migrating a whole team? Run one import per mailbox — they can run in parallel.

  • Mailboxes — create the destination mailbox first

  • Migrate Website — website migration is separate; it never includes email
