Coder IDE started with a simple frustration: every "modern" editor had become a marketplace with a text box attached. The features that should be table stakes, a real terminal, language intelligence, a usable Git UI — were sold back to you as extensions.
We took the engine VS Code proved (Monaco), added a real AI agent, a Go-sidecar LSP broker, and a project-aware terminal, and shipped the whole thing as a single fast binary. No plugin rabbit hole. No 800 MB idle footprint. No endless YAML.
Everything that's worth documenting is in the docs. Everything that ships is worth shipping. That's the deal.
