Everyone who interacts with R-3--depositors, users, Fondren Library Digital Scholarship Services--has unique rights and responsibilities. Learn more about them on Fondren's website.

When submitting content to R-3, a non-exclusive distribution license is required. This allows Rice to distribute and preserve your work. No copyright transfer is involved.

By submitting this agreement, the copyright owner grants to Rice University (Rice) the non-exclusive right to reproduce, translate (as defined below), and/or distribute your submission (including the abstract) worldwide in print and electronic format and in any medium, including but not limited to audio or video.

You agree that Rice may, without altering the content, translate the submission to any medium or format for the purpose of preservation and to ensure accessibility in accordance with University policy and current web accessibility standards.

You also agree that Rice may keep more than one copy of this submission for purposes of security, back-up, and preservation.

You represent that the submission is your original work and that you have the right to grant the rights contained in this license.

You also represent that your submission does not, to the best of your knowledge, infringe upon anyone's copyright.

If the submission contains material for which you do not hold copyright, you represent that you have obtained the unrestricted permission of the copyright owner to grant Rice the rights required by this license and that such third-party owned material is clearly identified and acknowledged within the text or content of the submission.

If the submission is based upon work that has been sponsored or supported by an agency or organization other than Rice, you represent that you have fulfilled any right of review or other obligations required by such contract or agreement. 

Rice will clearly identify your name(s) as the author(s) or owner(s) of the submission and will not make any alteration, other than as allowed by this license, to your submission.

R-3 is subject to the terms of the Rice University Privacy Notice.

Users: When you visit R-3, our system saves a record of your IP address. When you ask a question via email or the webform, we save the information you provide.

Rice University users: If you log into R-3 using your Rice NetID and password, our system retains a record of your session.

Contributors: When you submit material to R-3 through a designated webform, a limited amount of identifying and contact information is collected. This information may be consulted and used by library staff in the course of facilitated deposit and management. Some information associated with deposited material--such as author, title, and abstract--is included in the publicly available R-3 record.

Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to help us understand how R-3 is used and how we can improve user experience on the site. We may compile and distribute these usage statistics. Though Google Analytics does not collect personal identifying information, it does record your IP address and places a cookie in your browser so it can determine if you have previously visited R-3.
