Strategy
Four priorities guide everything we do.
Crush violent crime.
The FBI will destroy the ability of violent actors, gangs, and cartels to operate. The FBI will dismantle criminal enterprises.
Defend the homeland.
The FBI will protect the United States from terrorist attack, foreign intelligence, espionage, foreign cyber operations, and adversarial cybercriminal activity
Rebuild public trust.
The FBI will increase its own transparency to the public and be responsive to congressional oversight. The FBI will increase trust in U.S. communities and institutions by combating public corruption, white-collar crime, and civil rights violations.

Joint task forces
Task forces unite federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to share intelligence, conduct investigations, and coordinate arrests in terrorism, gang, cybercrime, crimes against children, and human trafficking cases.
Services and data
The FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division, or CJIS, is a high-tech hub that provides a range of state of-the-art tools and services-including crime data and tip processing-to law enforcement, national security and intelligence community partners, and the general public.
Training and professional development
The FBI offers training opportunities to U.S. and international agencies and partners. The range of professional courses, to include the National Academy, serves to improve the administration of justice and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.
Crisis response
The Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) is responsible for the Bureau's global readiness and response to the world's most complex, high-consequence threats. When conventional solutions are exhausted, CIRG provides the decisive resolution required to protect the nation and uphold the law.
Cyber
The success of the FBI Cyber mission depends on our partnerships-with law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and the private sector. Our partners play an integral role in defending against a cyberthreat no agency can face alone.
Law enforcement engagement
The FBI supports its large network of law enforcement partners-including federal, state, local, Tribal, territorial, and campus agencies-through engagements, trainings, information sharing, fusion centers liaisons, and national partner calls.

Thanks to the brilliant work of @FBIAlbany and our partners—this FBI stopped yet another alleged terrorist attack. Last night the FBI arrested an individual—Jessica Bowie—who allegedly swore allegiance to ISIS and planned to carry out a deadly attack with explosives on the New York State Capitol. In her own words, as alleged in the complaint—Bowie wanted to “destroy as much of the building as possible” and “kill the Senators while they are meeting.” ... This is just the latest example of this FBI stopping an alleged terrorist in their tracks—in 2026 we’ve already disrupted 400+ such attacks at home and around the world. For any individual who may be considering harming Americans in the future: know that we will find you.
August 20, 2026The FBI is announcing Voices Not Forgotten, a new initiative dedicated to increasing investigative leads in unsolved violent crime cases in Indian country. Speaking to more than 200 Tribal law enforcement partners, @FBIDirectorKash brought national attention to cases where federal, state, local, and Tribal agencies are seeking the public’s help. On the new Voices Not Forgotten webpage, the public can use a searchable and interactive map that links posters seeking information about violent crimes Tribal communities have endured. This initiative includes a minimum reward of up to $25,000 for all publicly advertised cases under FBI jurisdiction, expanded visibility for investigations in Indian country. August 19, 2026HISTORIC 77-year prison sentence for a Nihilistic Violent Extremism associated subject—convicted after an FBI investigation. This has been a major priority for this FBI. This sends a clear message: if you prey on children, this FBI and our DOJ partners will find you and hold you accountable. We arrested 500% more Nihilistic Violent Extremist offenders with our partners last year for a reason—because this FBI has made these predators a priority, with dedicated personnel working these cases across all 50 states.
