VueScan overview

VueScan is a scanning program that works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners to produce scans that have excellent color fidelity and color balance. VueScan is easy to use, and has advanced features for restoring faded colors, batch scanning and other features used by professional photographers.

Advantages:

Easy to use - just run VueScan, press Preview, adjust the cropping, then press Scan.
Accurate colors - uses ICC profiles and IT8 calibration.
Powerful - dozens of advanced options.
Faster workflow - can edit one image while the next image is being scanned (most scanner software won't let you work with one image while another is being scanned).
Simple to install - installing VueScan changes nothing on your system, installs nothing in your operating system and all other scanner software will continue to function.

just a star rating to go with my comment from yesterday I selected price for the dislike options because I had to select at least one item to post. However, I think for what the app does, the pricing is very reasonable.

Last version compatible with MacOSX 10.10 and 10.11 is 9.8.37. Version 9.8.38 and later requires MacOSX Sierra (10.12) or later, even though info on developers webpage remains to be updated. MacUpdate folks, please update anyway 🙂.

Developer now offers a ONE-time purchase for 3 editions: Basic $20, Standard $40, Professional $100. Clearly shows under ONE-Time purchase. Another option who likes it - monthly payment instead of 1-time purchase. But why would anyone use "monthly payments" ???

I've heard about VueScan for many years now, and was thinking about buying a scanner and VueScan to use it with. I was floored when I went to the website to purchase it - it's not the $40 shown on this website, but instead it's now a subscription that'll cost you $20/mo or a $150 for a 1-time purchase! OUCH!! I don't ever do subscriptions and $150 is just way, way too steep for a casual user like me. So I'm looking elsewhere as a result.
