Autism@lemmy.world•You ever go into withdrawals because you forgot to drink caffeine?English
7·12 days agoI’ve been drinking coffee everyday since I was at least 12. I’ll get a headache in the afternoon if I don’t have it in the morning.
Except that I once went a week unknowingly drinking decaf coffee and didn’t experience withdrawal, so maybe there’s something psychological at play?
Was there a major staff change for season 9? That’s when it appears to have markedly declined.
They also played reruns in the early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays.
Nothing fun ever played on Sundays.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think of homeschooling?English
15·14 days agoI was homeschooled k-12 because my parents didn’t want me to learn about evolution and “communism”. I didn’t have any close friends ever growing up because there was just no opportunity for that. I didn’t have extended participation with other kids on a daily basis like I would’ve gotten if I was in a real school. At best I had some playtime outside of school hours with a few of my neighbors and there was things like Boy Scouts and tennis club. But it wasn’t enough. It really stunted the development of my social skills. Throughout my 20s I was I having to learn a lot about how to make and maintain friendships and just like socialize and talk to people and date and such, things that most people would’ve done in their tweens and teens.
I guess one nice perk was I never really had to deal with bullying as a kid? But then when I encountered bullies as an adult (terrible roommates, colleagues, coworkers etc) I didn’t have the skills to deal with them well.
I’m in my mid 30s now, and I still struggle with socializing but I’m better at it. I’ve been in a relationship for 4 years and I’m relatively content with my life at least.
What about pants?
These days your average hole in the wall family owned restaurant has much better food for about the same price as fast food. The serving sizes are often much larger as well, so you could spread it over a couple days or share it.

5·27 days agoMy family owned this movie on VHS. I grew up watching it multiple times a year. I’m really quite fond of it. I was shocked as an adult when I looked up reviews of it on RT to see how poorly it was received.
Just needs a little bit of paint.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does anyone else feel like websites nowadays feels very broken compared to apps? Like you try to do transactions on the mobile site (eg: ordering food), and payments mysteriously declines...English
4·29 days agoClothing sites nearly always make my phone (iPhone 13) run hot after a few minutes of browsing. Often the phone as a whole will start to get really slow (thermal throttling?) and I have to force quit the browser and maybe even restart iOS.
There’s this little thing called choice paralysis.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is 71° F (21° C) the ideal weather to wear shorts?English
1·1 month agoFor me I’ll prefer shorts if the temps are at least somewhere in the mid 60s Fahrenheit. I run hotter than most however and prefer colder temps.

8·1 month agoI’ve been questioning for over a decade if I might be autistic. Looking at this list I feel like I have nearly all 39 symptoms (right word?) but none of them would score very high for me. Not sure if I’d benefit from an autism diagnosis.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What movie do you think is really underrated?English
3·2 months agoIt’s like that and the movie where a pair of jeans comes to life and murders everyone (Slaxx) 👖
Yeah that’s it. It was originally two albums (concertos 1 to 6 and 7 to 12). It’s a very special recording because several of the concertos have hypothetical reconstructed parts for woodwinds and brass that are thought to be missing in the surviving manuscripts.
Ah sorry. It was early music ensemble Modo Antiquo’s recording of Corelli’s op. 6 concerti grossi.

I was really hoping for an ultra wide iPad. I primarily use my 13" iPad Pro for reading sheet music with ForScore. Being able to have two pages side by side at full or nearly full size would be wonderful.
