Yeah I always felt best (highest libido, good appetite, slightly manic but in a pleasant way, just lots of energy) in the days right before my period, and the actual period was a big comedown and usually accompanied by a migraine.

The two nadirs in my cycle were ovulation and menstruation, both are sharp drops in estrogen so that makes sense. Progesterone runs up before the period and that I think is what made me feel good.

  • How many pounds? That doesn’t seem possible, like how would they even get to the doctor? Hauled in the back of a truck? But they probably couldn’t climb in and out.

What I find honestly shocking is the number of men (it’s always men) who think they are exempt from physics, and can weigh more than BMI standards because they have muscle. No regular guy is so jacked they can be lean and obese in weight. You are fat, maybe fat and strong, yes, but fat. BMI does miss in the other direction, regularly. I am well within normal and active, still feel like I have too much fat, and it’s not some dysmorphia thing, it’s just so much more common to be skinnyfat than heavy lean.

  • Oh my God thank you for the flames tip. Squash bugs steal my squash vines every time. I think I have to wait until I’m retired to try squash again, don’t have enough time to be so vigilant but will remember that. Tried growing it in the mint patch, that worked until it got too big.

Liquid copper very very dilute once a year on my citrus trees, I keep them small(Florida - they don’t mind the heat but summer is rainy season). And buy mildew resistant sturdy hybrids for everything in the garden.

Every time I think about pesticide I see bees and ladybugs and oof, start thinking about the insect apocalypse.

Growing what grows best also helps. I can grow fennel so successfully, it’s happy for most of the year. Broccoli in fall to winter does well, basil loves the summer, and okra does too. Radishes, allegedly easy, are difficult here. Tomatoes grow but get bugs and if not bugs, birds! You will learn what works over time.

  • I love getting lost sometimes. It’s about impossible for me here, because I have lived in the same place so long. But just wandering can be so cool. I had a friend who could ALWAYS face north, we were doing “pin the tail on the donkey” so blindfolded her, spun her around and around and said go, she unerringly heads right for the correct wall. So we played with making her disoriented and saying which way is north, she cannot lose it, is anchored even blind & dizzy.

  • Not much. I am a middle aged white woman, do not ask for the manager or call the police. I fucking love spicy food and all kinds of music, hang out with all sorts of people. My mom used to say my taste in books and movies was that of a teenage boy. Drive a manual 6 speed car when I have to drive. Still tech support for some of my kids and definitely for my husband.

In stereotypical fashion though, I do love a fruity cocktail, use my e-reader to read smut sometimes, and am very good in the kitchen. I do yoga. Love cats!

So maybe an average amount stereotypical?

  • It’s normal here (Florida US) “wow that’s a big watermelon”. “Looks like you are having a party!” “Hey, I haven’t tried that, it’s good?”. Or just weather or OMG your baby is so cute, or whatever. General small talk.

I remember once a lady saw me buying a diet coke and asked “does that work?”

I think the US is sort of a middle ground on random conversations. Not super friendly but not aloof.
