15·11 days agoThese people talk like they’re somewhere between JRPG villains and Hideo Kojima. My eyes glazed over a few times trying to parse this pseudophilosophical nonsense. If this had come from someone with far less power, I’d have dismissed it as the ramblings of a crazy person.
Incidentally, I happen to be watching Minority Report right now. I hope that’s not going to be the future I live in someday.

The irony is that the character you’re portraying yourself as is a fascist.
The people on the left are atheist philosophers and the ones on the right are shitheads who coincidentally happen to be atheists. Special mention to the bottom left in the right box, Ann Rand, whose “philosophy” is that the rich and powerful are morally superior to everyone else because they’re rich and powerful and might makes right and all those dirty poor people should die from huffing train exhaust. (not exaggeration. This is what she actually believes)
The meme is a statement that just because you’re right on one thing doesn’t make you right on everything.

Yeah, but the Europeans were also bringing diseases on top of that. And make no mistake, plenty of Europeans died pointlessly trying to colonize the new world. It was a harsh and brutal affair and if not for the whole genocide thing I’d have felt sorry for them.
Covid was a time travel story?
I guess when you put it like that, it sounds kinda stupid.
Even if you aren’t carrying any diseases, the fact remains that you are carrying germs that are completely foreign to their ecosystem, and as such they possess no resistance to. Something harmless to you can be deadly to an immune system that never had to deal with it.
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a time travel story that addressed this. I guess most writers either don’t know or feel the story would be too tedious with that detail included.

The specifics depend on the writer, but there’s some supernatural force keeping Gotham from improving. The city may have been founded by demon worshipers, Arkham Alylum might have been founded by a serial killer, and there might be chemicals from underground Lazarus Pits leaking into the water supply. It all depends on the continuity and who tells the story. Long story short, Gotham is the kind of fucked up that all the money in the world isn’t going to fix.

Dear God, those comments.
Hopefully this just a bluff and he doesn’t actually do it.
I just… it reads as so casual about the situation. Not “Holy shit, this is bad!” Just “I hope he’s kidding”. Even when they turn on him they can only manage the weakest possible criticism.
