Aussie Enviro@aussie.zone•AI is helping rangers protect Victorian wildlife in a fraction of the time
3·3 days agoProbably some anti-AI kneejerk. This isnt a LLM, its an image recognition model, completely different thing. And its not even stealing a job, becuase no human can watch trailcam footage 24hrs a day.

2·3 days ago.gitignore is good for stuff that will always be there, but is less good for small one-off files and other detritus.
But if your happy maintaining .gitignore correctly,
git add .before commit and youll never miss a file again. You may accidentally commit a secrets file, but thats a different problem for a different day.

6·3 days agoThe problem is that uncommited files in the repo isnt unusual, often people have test files or logs, that you dont want to commit.
I personally use
git gui, which will show all the files that arent committed, so that may be a solution for you.
Maybe be a bit of both, but definitely they are required to operate the payphone network:
Legally mandated. Telstra has to maintain the payphone network.
Telstra is required to provide the payphone network coverage. But it costs more money to physically collect the funds from the phones than its worth, so they just make them free to save the effort. They also have wifi in some of them thats free for telstra subscribers
there are a ton of easy captures to be had on Kangaroo Island.
Aww, just came back from there. For what its worth, Kangaroo island isnt that expensive, its suprisingly reasonable for a holiday location. But be aware that its a huge island, everything is a lot larger than i expected.

Climate@slrpnk.net•Trump Administration Will Pay More Energy Firms to Cancel Wind Farms | In exchange, the companies will invest in oil and gas projects, echoing earlier deal with the French energy giant TotalEnergies6·4 days agoFree market!
Unless the payment is insanely high, this is still a stupid business decision, its throwing away any first mover advantage to anyone who doesnt take the bribe. When the bribes run out, theyll be competing against established wind and solar farms that have already paid down their upfront costs.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Nobody can ever automate the creation of handmade things
2·4 days agoUnless the stall has the artist actively making the item, this is no guarentee either. I have seen aliexpress stuff being sold at an outdoor stall.

2·4 days agoShe probably should just buy directly from aliexpress in that case. No point paying a needless markup.
Tailscale is probably the right move there in that case. Also OS caching may still cause delays.

Is your name Dale?
DNS is the way around it. But, the caveat is that while you can update your DNS entry as often as you like, itll often be cached on intermediate servers for an unknown amount of time. Expect a downtime of anywhere from a few minutes to days everytime your address changes.

Its gonna get a lot of people angry and sweaty, but this is probably a good idea, long overdue. GIMP is just just not a professional sounding name.
I gather Wilbur is the name of the mascot, so WLBR makes sense.
