A timeline of notable changes to the NetNext network. Items are listed with the most recent month first.
April 2026
- Built a mesh network between the North American routers to improve resilience and internal routing options across the region.
- Connected the North American and European networks, extending the backbone across both continents.
- Enabled OSPF between all edge routers so internal routes can be exchanged consistently throughout the network.
February 2026
- Created a mesh network between the European routers, improving redundancy and providing multiple internal paths within Europe.
- Implemented OSPF on the European routers for internal route exchange.
January 2026
- Added a router in Fremont, USA and reinstated the connection to the FREMIX internet exchange. NetNext is now present on both the east and west coast of the United States.
- Added a second router in Amsterdam, Netherlands to increase local capacity and redundancy.
- Fully automated router configuration using Ansible, making changes more consistent and easier to roll out.
- Acquired a /24 IPv4 subnet; NetNext is now a dual-stack network 🎉
- Joined the NL-IX Internet Exchange in Amsterdam with a 100 Mbit connection.
