• Was the software title installed freshly or updated/migrated? freshly Install
• Can this issue be replicated on a fresh installation of DietPi? yes. when freshly install.

Steps to reproduce

1. fresh install
2. problem occurs every time

• can't install. installation stoped with error

I "changed command" and used 12-digit password and it worked.

Oh that must be pretty new. Last tests with password "dietpi" worked well. ... yeah, from last week: filebrowser/filebrowser@464b644

Hmm, if it was min 6 or 8 characters, I would consider using this for the default software password as well, but 12 is probably a bit too strict, also since we forced a default password change just recently.

On interactive installs, if the password is below 12 characters, we can just show a prompt to enter a longer one. But this does not work for non-interactive installs, of course 🤔.

But hey, it is configurable. Easiest probably to set --minimum-password-length to the length of the default password, if it is shorter than 12. Encouraging users to apply passwords with at least 12 characters is something we can do independently, but too strict to enforce, IMO.

Hmm, filebrowser config set --minimum-password-length n does not work 🤔. In the source code it looks like that should work: filebrowser/filebrowser@464b644#diff-89ad2d864e4f498ce611e766a80ea86f194f893d81efc4752ced9911fd86db36

Need to test locally ...

EDIT: Just added it to the wrong command. All good works well.
