The Senior Citizen Advisory Council exists to advise the City on how to more efficiently coordinate senior citizen activities and to accept recommendations on new programs or the modification of existing programs.
The Advisory Council will consist of not less than seven and not more than 11 members, to be appointed by the City Manager of the City of Peekskill. Membership shall consist of not less than two members from the Nutrition Center; two members from the Senior Citizen Club; two members from a Senior Citizen Housing Complex within the City of Peekskill; and at least one undesignated member.
Terms of office for members of this Advisory Council shall be for three years each. Vacancies occurring otherwise than by expiration of terms of office shall be filled by the City Manager for the unexpired terms of the offices so filled.
The Advisory Council shall be required to meet at least one time in each calendar year, pursuant to Chapter 14 of the City Code.
The Senior Citizen Advisory Council shall meet for the purpose of reviewing senior citizen activities, provide for the coordination of these activities by and between the various agencies of government and make recommendations to the City Manager for any modification of the plan, creation of new programs, coordination of existing programs and facilities and for such other matters related to the health and well-being of the senior citizens of the City of Peekskill.
