Chapter 19.20 NUMBERING BUILDINGS

It is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to maintain any building or structure in the city without having over the entrance thereto or in a conspicuous place near the entrance thereto the number of the said building or structure.

It is hereby made the duty of the city engineer or other officer designated by the city manager to keep and maintain a map whereon shall be shown the numbers of all buildings and structures now in the city and which may hereafter be moved, built, or constructed in the city, and to furnish such information to the public in general upon request.

The numbers on each building or structure must be of a uniform size and style, and must not be less than four inches (101.6 mm) in height with a minimum stroke width of one-half inch (12.7 mm).

The numbering shall commence at Mill Street, Stedman Street, and Tongass Narrows, and in each instance the buildings and structures on the streets extending therefrom shall be numbered consecutively, the even numbers on the right and the odd numbers on the left.
