Any person desiring to conduct, transact, or engage in any business, trade, profession or other activity within the City shall obtain a business license.

Applicants for license under this chapter shall file with the Department of Finance an application on a form to be furnished by the Department. To be considered completed, a license fee shall accompany the application.

The license fee, which shall be collected by the Department of Finance, shall be established pursuant to the Home Rule Charter.
The license shall be conspicuously posted in the place of business for which the license is issued. In cases where more than one business location exists, a separate license or copy thereof shall be issued for posting.
A.
For the year beginning October 1, 1996, a license issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be valid for a fifteen-month period and shall expire on December 31, 1997.
B.
Thereafter, all licenses issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be issued on an annual basis, expiring on December 31 of the year of issue.

Any person who conducts, transacts or engages in any business, trade, profession or other activity within the City without a valid business license shall, upon summary conviction before any Lehigh County Magisterial District Judge, be fined not more than $500 for any one offense, recoverable with costs and restitution, or imprisoned not more than 90 days, if the amount of such fine and costs are not paid. Each day of a continuing violation shall be considered a separate offense.
