The Collector shall perform all the duties specified in this Code and shall perform such other duties as may be directed by the City Clerk and/or Mayor.
The Collector shall annually, at such times as may be designated by ordinance, make a detailed report to the Board of Aldermen stating the various monies collected by him/her during the year, and the amounts uncollected, and the names of the persons from which he/she failed to collect, and the causes therefor.
The Mayor may appoint a Deputy Collector to be approved by the Board of Aldermen, and when such Deputy Collector shall have taken and subscribed to the oath provided by this Code, he/she shall possess all the qualifications and powers and be charged with the same duties as the Collector.

A. 
The Collector shall perform all of the duties specified in the Code and shall perform such other duties as may be directed by the City Clerk and/or Mayor. In addition to other duties, the Collector:
1. 
Shall be present at the City Hall at all times when the City Hall is open to the public, unless attendance has been specifically excused by the Board of Aldermen.
2. 
Shall be proficient in operating the City's computing equipment. Before undertaking the discharge of this office, the Collector will obtain any necessary training and proficiency, all at the expense of said Collector. The Board of Aldermen may require a demonstration of such competence before the Collector assumes office.
3. 
Shall collect all revenues due to the City, and shall prepare bills for all utility charges and mail the same to utility customers in a timely manner.
4. 
Shall report daily to the Mayor and City Clerk, and monthly to the Board of Aldermen on funds due the City and funds collected.
5. 
Shall daily turn over to the City treasury all money received.
6. 
Shall serve as the Municipal Court Clerk and as Traffic Violations Bureau Clerk.

The Collector shall receive such compensation for his/her services as shall from time to time be enacted by the Board of Aldermen.

Every person who shall hold the office of Collector of the City of Glasgow, Missouri, shall, before entering upon the discharge of the duties of such office, give bond to the City in the sum as set by the Board of Aldermen from time to time, conditioned upon the faithful performance of the duties of such office and the paying over of all monies belonging to said City, which may come into his/her hands, in the manner provided by law. Such bond may be a surety bond. The City of Glasgow shall pay the premium on such bond.

Every check, draft, or other negotiable instrument of any type which is drawn in favor of the City of Glasgow, Missouri, may be negotiated only by including in the endorsement thereof on behalf of said City the phrase "For Deposit Only" or some similar statement, and the actual deposit thereof to the credit of said City in a depository designated for receipt of the funds of said City. No such instrument shall be negotiated for cash.
