A certain document, a copy of which is on file in the office of the Building Inspector of the City of Neosho, Missouri, being marked and designated as "The National Electrical Code, 2017 Edition," as published by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., be and is hereby adopted as the Electrical Code of the City of Neosho, Missouri, for the control of electrical wiring, electrical devices or electric material; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said National Electrical Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made a part hereof, as if fully set out in this Section, except as otherwise provided by this Chapter.

The Electric Code adopted by Section 505.010 of this Article is hereby amended, changed, and altered as follows:
The National Fire Protection Association ("NFPA") 70, National Electtical Code, 2017 (hereinafter referred to as the "NEC"), as adopted, is hereby amended as follows:
210.12 Arc-Fault Circuit-Interrupter Protection
(A) Dwelling Units. All 120-volt, single phase, 15- and 20-ampere branch circuits supplying outlets or devices installed in dwelling unit bedrooms, shall be protected by any of the means described in 210.12(A)(1) through (6).

This Chapter shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen the responsibility or liability of any party owning, operating, controlling or installing any electric wiring, electric devices or electric material, for damage to persons or property caused by any such liability by reason of the inspection authorized by this Chapter or the certificate of inspection issued pursuant to this Chapter.

A. 
Any person violating any of the provisions of this Chapter or the provisions of the National Electric Code adopted in this Chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in an amount not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) or be imprisoned in the City or County Jail for a period of not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both such fine and imprisonment. Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such hereunder.
B. 
In addition to the imposition of the penalties herein described, the Building Inspector is authorized to institute appropriate action to prevent unlawful construction or to restrain, correct or abate a violation; or to prevent illegal occupancy of a structure or premises; or to stop an illegal act, conduct of business or occupancy of a structure on or about any premises.
