The Warp Block is an item in the Mario Party series. It is a block that transports the user to another player's space and then swaps that player over to where the user was. It appears in Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, and Mario Party Superstars.

Similar equivalents to the Warp Block in later Mario Party titles include the Warp Pipe in Mario Party 4 through 7, the Warp Dice Block in Mario Party DS, the Warp Box in Mario Party: Star Rush, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Super Mario Party, and the Swap Mirror in Super Mario Party Jamboree.

History

Mario Party

The Warp Block is used in place of a Dice Block for the player's turn in Mario Party. It is depicted as a colorful block with question marks on each side. The Warp Block can be bought at the Mushroom Shop, and enabled and disabled at will in the Mushroom Bank. If the user switches positions with a player who has a Poisonous Mushroom, the space where the latter lands only changes the color of their Player Panel.

Mario Party 2

The Warp Block costs 15 Coins to buy at an Item Shop in Mario Party 2; at the secondary Item Shop in Bowser Land, it costs 17 coins. It can also be obtained during an Item mini-game. The Warp Block is Yoshi's favorite item, so he prioritizes acquiring it as a computer player. Unlike before, the player can use the regular Dice Block on the same turn.

In the browser-based game Melon Mayhem, it is referred to as the Warp Box.

Mario Party 3

The Warp Block has the same role in Mario Party 3, except it costs only five coins.

Mario Party 4

Mario Party 4's manual says that the Warp Block is Yoshi's favorite item. However, the Warp Block is not an item in this game, and on the character select screen, was changed to be the Warp Space.

Mario Party Superstars

The Warp Block returns in Mario Party Superstars with the same function as in Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3, except it costs 7 coins to buy at an Item Shop. It is now designed with a shifting rainbow color and two light blue circular arrows on a side. It also receives a variation, the Super Warp Block, exclusive to the final five turns or from an Item Bag.
