A diverse, committed and stimulating research community
Across its several campuses, EPFL has a diverse, committed and stimulating research community that is active over a wide spectrum of quantitative and design-focused disciplines. To foster trans-disciplinary research we launch strategic initiatives such as the Swiss National AI Initiative, the Swiss Plasma Centre or the Swiss Data Science Centre. We address critical areas such as data science, personalised health, biomedical engineering, energy, robotics and advanced manufacturing, to engage in crucial societal challenges while ensuring that Switzerland remains at the cutting edge of modern technology. Our research community and the science it produces are open to the world: we share the knowledge that we produce, we engage the general public and we have many collaborations and partnerships with other institutions and research laboratories.

Contact the support units for research
Research Office
The Research Office supports the EPFL research community in administrative tasks linked to funding acquisition and research projects.
Technology Transfer Office
The unit manages, protects and licenses EPFL’s IP. It accelerates tech transfer and develops innovation culture through its enable program. It also negotiates and approves research contracts with industrial partners.
Equipment and Centers Management Office
The unit coordinates the acquisition of major scientific equipment at EPFL, manages financial aspects of large research projects and oversees the management of technological platforms and of transdisciplinary and inter-instituional entitites.
Library
EPFL Library offers expertise, services and training to support you throughout your research project and beyond. A liaison librarian specialized in your filed of research is at your disposal for a tailored support.
