MG-5 (also known as MG5 or Super NES MG-5) is a compilation Sub-Game in Kirby's Dream Land 3 consisting of the five mini-games from the Story Mode all bundled together and played one-after-the-other. It is accessible from the options menu once Iceberg - Stage 3 is cleared. Completing MG-5 with a perfect score unlocks the Jumping Sub-Game, and is required for 100% completion. Similar to Boss Butch and Jumping, Kirby cannot summon Gooey during this sub-game.
Contents[edit]
MG-5 consists of the following games, in order (more details on each game covered in their appropriate articles):
| Game | Original location | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Grass Land - Stage 3 | A game where Kirby has to determine the face of a Gordo that is quickly thrown by Pitcherman between sheets. | |
| Ripple Field - Stage 3 | A game where Kirby has to determine which of the five pots Elieel was last seen in after shuffling between them. | |
| Sand Canyon - Stage 3 | A game where Kirby has to guess how many Gordos had a specific face after Caramelo shows them for a brief moment. | |
| Cloudy Park - Stage 3 | A game where Kirby has to guess how many Gordos had a specific color after showing them for a brief moment, hosted by Tama-san. | |
| Iceberg - Stage 3 | A game where Kirby has to pick the Gordo whose sound matches the one next to Chef Kawasaki. |
In MG-5, the areas each mini-game takes place in is unique compared to their original environments. These areas are distinguishable in the following ways:
- Pitcherman's game takes place in a rainy, flooding area with gray clouds.
- Elieel's game is located in a snowy area with an orange-colored sky; the pots he hides in are colored blue.
- Caramelo's game is hosted in a volcanic cave, similar to the area where Pon & Con are fought during Boss Butch.
- Tama-san hosts its game in an abstract area similar to Sand Canyon's sixth stage, with it especially resembling the room where R.O.B.'s base is found.
- Chef Kawasaki's game takes place inside (in an area resembling Iceberg's later stages), with petals blowing in an updraft.
Once all the games are complete, the final score is tallied based on how many guesses Kirby got right. A perfect score thus entails getting every single guess correct.
