Modernizing mission-critical internal and customer-facing applications. Led the UI architecture of the Supply Center Admin Portal (ColdFusion → React) and the migration of a legacy Android kiosk used in thousands of labs worldwide to a React PWA with offline-first ordering.
About
I'm a UI engineer and product-focused design lead with over a decade of experience building and scaling user-facing systems from zero to production. I work at the intersection of design, engineering, and product — translating complex ideas into intuitive interfaces and shipping high-impact experiences across web, mobile, and hardware.
I've been at Thermo Fisher Scientific for about five years, where I distill big datasets into usable interfaces for thousands of labs worldwide. Before that I led design and UI at comma.ai — Consumer Reports' #1-rated driver assistance system — built UX at CoverHound, and co-founded Hackerlist.
I'm looking for a small to mid-size team where I can apply my skillset more broadly again, like my time with comma.ai. On the side, through Valish Studios, I build custom CRM solutions for small businesses and integrate LLMs and image-generation tools to help local businesses ride the AI wave.
Experience
Led product design and UI from pre-revenue to profitability at an a16z-backed autonomous vehicle startup. Our driver assistance system was rated #1 by Consumer Reports — above Tesla, GM, and Ford. Authored the design system used across all React Native apps.
First frontend engineer at the insurance marketplace (acquired by Brown & Brown). Introduced React with Redux and authored Treat, the company's themable UI toolkit. Helped triple the engineering team, then built the UX Design team.
Private network connecting PhD researchers and engineers with high-profile consulting opportunities — 1,500+ registered hackers and 20+ successful projects. Led UX, design, and frontend on a team of five.
Food donation marketplace connecting excess food with shelters and food kitchens. Drove the multi-perspective interfaces for donors, receivers, and volunteer drivers — interfaces that helped recover over 650,000 pounds of food.
Skill-driven, review-based local employment marketplace. My first startup — designed and built the first version on Rails, MongoDB, and Backbone.js.
Hosting and web development firm (acquired by Rebel CIO). Point-of-contact for client design — mockups, email templates, UX flows, and HTML/CSS/jQuery on ColdFusion and .NET.
