I’m with you in spirit about what it says about his character but he absolutely isn’t that kind of disciplinarian as a coach. He stuck with Stevenson despite an awful stretch of fumbles to start the year. Fans were calling for a benching and he kept sticking with him. He was all about having players pick one another up and was giving a lot more leeway than Belichick ever did.
I also think there’s something to the idea that these subjects are used to being in front of a camera. A lot of his best work was with people who weren’t used to being in public. These jackasses spend 7 hours a day live-streaming with a chat giving instant feedback. They’ve been trained through experience as to how audiences are going to react so Louis wasn’t really able to get too many guard down moments. It was really the people around them that were able to give some insight but he didn’t get enough access to them say much that we didn’t already know.
