- This article is about the video game console, and should not be confused with the series of the same name.
The Wii (codenamed Revolution during development) succeeded the GameCube, introduced system-wide Miis, and was bundled with Wii Sports. It featured the customizable Wii Menu for accessing Wii Channels, including the Mii Channel (100- storage), Check Mii Out Channel, and Wii Shop Channel for WiiWare and Virtual Console. Because of this, games frequently referenced the hardware. Titles like Wii Play, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports Resort utilize and display the Wii Remote and console in their interfaces. Users can also store 10 Miis on a Wii Remote.
The Wii sold 101.63 million units, making it Nintendo's best-selling home console until it was surpassed by the Nintendo Switch in 2021.[1] Later revisions included the Wii Family Edition and the no-internet Wii mini.[2]
