Tamriel Rebuilt Releases Poison Song — August 23, 2026
Tamriel Rebuilt is a mod for Morrowind with the goal of adding the complete Morrowind province to the game. This week marks the release of version 26.08, Poison Song, which is both a major content expansion and a revamp of previously released areas. This release is the first to be made available on GOG.com.
Features include:
- A joinable Great House Indoril faction with questlines equal in length to that of vanilla Great Houses. The House boasts wholly new architecture, clothing, armors, and conceptualization, as seen in the chapels (manor-strongholds) of Nanaav, Gorne, Roa Dyr, and Tur Julan.
- A joinable Ordinator faction complete with three questlines for each of the Orders.
- The brand-new Orethan Fields region of lush gardens and bountiful fields, including the town of Othrenis and the chapel of Nanaav.
- A wholly remade Sundered Scar region, now a desolate sulphuric wasteland filled with high-level enemies.
- New quests for the Tribunal Temple, Morag Tong and many miscellaneous ones, for the first time bringing the Tamriel Rebuilt quest count over 1000.
- Expansion and revamp of most questlines in Old Ebonheart.
- A full visual revamp of many settlements in the Aanthirin region, as well as a major technical and stylistic pass of all of its quests.
Download links and detailed information about new features are available on Tamriel Rebuilt's website.
Oblivion Remastered Released on Switch 2 — August 14, 2026
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on Nintendo Switch 2 as of August 11, 2026. The Deluxe Edition received a fully offline physical release, bucking the broader industry trend away from physical media—although an online connection is required to download the day-one patch. Both the Deluxe and standard editions can also be purchased digitally through the Nintendo eShop.
The Switch 2 version of Oblivion Remastered includes optimization changes that are not available on PC, Xbox, or PlayStation as of the latest patch, although Bethesda has announced plans to bring some of these improvements to other platforms in the near future.
The Future of Bethesda — July 17, 2026
Bethesda Game Studios have released a press statement on the future of their Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield franchises, as well as their in-house Creation Engine. Starfield Year Three was confirmed to be ongoing, with an upcoming Starborn content expansion still planned and more support promised. The Fallout franchise received perhaps the most updates. The rumored Obsidian Fallout game was officially confirmed to be in development, alongside a confirmation for a Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas remaster. Fallout 5 was also stated to still be in pre-production, confirming the Obsidian project is separate from it. Fallout 76 was given an update with a Raven Rock expansion announced. Further support and Seasons were promised for Fallout Shelter, including ones in collaboration with the ongoing Amazon show. The show's production towards season 3 was mentioned, and they congratulated Kilter Films and Amazon Studios on their ten Emmy nominations for the previous season. Fallout Day's broadcast for this year was cancelled, but a promised live event in Washington D.C. for the series 30th anniversary was announced. They also updated the sales figures for Fallout 4, pushing it past 35 million copies.
Bethesda also took some time to provide updates on the Creation Engine, confirming Creation Engine 3 for The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5. Specifics about the engine were not mentioned, but they said it "allows our teams to support multiple projects simultaneously with new tools, rendering, and systems that define our games". A sales figure was given for Creations, with them claiming that payouts to Creators has reached ten million dollars in royalties.
The Elder Scrolls news served as the final cap to the franchise announcements. The Elder Scrolls VI was mentioned, and while little was said, they stated the majority of their team was working on it. They also acknowledged the extremely long wait, and said "The next chapter is on the way. We're where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day." The current status of ZeniMax Online Studios and Elder Scrolls Online was given some time, with them stating that the studio will be partnering much closer with Bethesda on The Elder Scrolls franchise, and Elder Scrolls Online. More content after Season One: Return of the Thieves Guild was promised for that game, and they believe that "by aligning more directly across the franchise, we can create even better experiences for players." Lastly, a sales update for Skyrim was also provided, putting its official number at over 65 million copies.
The studio concluded their update message with the following statement on their status:
"Across Bethesda Game Studios, we're building for the future of Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Starfield. We're investing in our technology, bringing teams closer together, supporting our live games, expanding into new forms of entertainment, and developing the next generation of Bethesda RPGs.
"We couldn't be more excited for what's ahead and wanted to share as much as we could today. We can't thank you enough for all you've given to us and these worlds. And we can't wait to continue them together."
The Elder Scrolls: Blades has been shut down — June 30, 2026
"Let future heroes deal with it! I think we have earned the right to rest a little, don’t you think?" —Saashi
The servers for the Elder Scrolls mobile game Blades have been permanently shut down as of 3pm UTC today. We at UESP have had a great time with the game and bid it a heartfelt farewell. Whether you rebuilt your town, braved the Abyss, or kept the Arena alive through years of PvP battles, you can join us on the UESP Discord server to share your greatest fights, recollect your best moments, or otherwise reminisce about the game's art and lore.
Although the servers have gone quiet, there is still work to do in preserving what remains of Blades. Its quests, enemies, equipment, dialogue, events, and Arena history all form part of the record we hope to keep intact. Screenshots, game files, recordings, personal notes, and memories from longtime players may still help recover details that would otherwise be lost. If you want to help, head over to the Blades Namespace Completion Project.
Bethesda Softworks Celebrates 40 Years — June 28, 2026
Bethesda Softworks, the company that created the Elder Scrolls series, turns 40 years old today! Today marks the foundation of Bethesda all the way back on June 28, 1986. In its initial 15 years, Bethesda Softworks was a video game developer and self-published its titles. Bethesda later spun off its in-house development team into Bethesda Game Studios in 2001, with Bethesda Softworks shifting its focus solely to publishing operations. While Bethesda Game Studios currently develops all the mainline TES games, Bethesda Softworks remains the publisher of all TES games, as well as many other ZeniMax IPs.
The Elder Scrolls: Blades will be permanently shut down — March 28, 2026
The servers for the Elder Scrolls game Blades will be permanently shut down on June 30, 2026. In-game purchases were disabled alongside yesterday's announcement, and store prices have been reduced to 1 gem or 1 sigil. Alongside a one-time gift of both currencies, store purchases are now effectively free while the game remains online.
Blades first launched as an early access mobile game in March 2019. It has not received any content updates since 2022. For now, the game remains available to download for free on Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. The planned PC and VR versions were never released.
This will be the second Elder Scrolls game to become lost media, following the shutdown of the card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends in January 2025. Blades follows a growing trend of live-service shutdowns, where games vanish entirely once servers go offline. This has prompted backlash from preservation efforts such as Stop Killing Games, which argues consumers should retain access to what they've paid for. When Blades shuts down, the only remaining live-service Elder Scrolls games will be ESO and Castles.
If you'd like to help document the game before it is too late, you can help the UESPWiki by contributing to the Blades Namespace Completion Project. In particular, we have a list of pages which are still missing in-game screenshots.
ESO Update 50 Details and ESO Crossplay Update — March 26, 2026
ZeniMax have released a stream discussing some of the changes coming to ESO in Update 50. The stream focused on various player experience improvements. Some of the changes will include:
- Motif Sourcing Improvements: motifs in the Crown Store now tell you where to obtain motifs in-game without paying Crowns for them.
- Exemplary Deconstruction: exemplary items can now be deconstructed.
- Vampire + Werewolf Bite Quests: Shrines of Molag Bal renamed to Shrines of Lamae Bal, alongside related quest dialogue. This was a lore mistake brought up on the forums and ZOS had promised to fix. You can now flirt with the vampire and werewolf NPCs. The Priest of Arkay cure is now zero gold to match the zero Crown cost. The Crown Store cure may be eventually removed, but will be kept for now.
- Transmute Stations: Now found in Mages Guilds across Tamriel in capital cities, reskinned to not look Clockwork/Dwemeri.
- Guild Mail: Guild Leader (and ranks with perms) can send mail to guild members via the guild interface based on individual ranks or everyone, with a 14-day expiration duration and a max of 5 guild mails that can be sent at once.
- New Golden Pursuit for newer players.
They also briefly touched on plans for ESO's eventual crossplay update. The challenges for crossplay are being carefully weighed, with some issues like how to handle the economy being major issues that need to be explored before it releases. As such, crossplay will not be available until at least next year.
In Memory of Camelworks — March 14, 2026
We are very saddened to learn of the passing of Camelworks. He did a lot to spread love of The Elder Scrolls and its lore throughout the community, and all of our interactions with him were extremely positive. Although I only had a few direct interactions with him, he without a question was willing to assist us with our own projects to the most of his ability.
We wish the best for his friends and family. His family are asking to share your fond memories of him, and we hope that you do.
The attached image is from the Gamer Talent announcement of his passing.
Marilyn Wasserman Passes Away — January 26, 2026
Marilyn Wasserman, a Council of Wisdom member and the namesake of the Goddess Mara, passed away on 5th January. She was a volunteer QA tester and the author of some of the instrumental texts that made The Elder Scrolls franchise, such as the Daggerfall books The Real Barenziah, Biography of Queen Barenziah, and King Edward.
She was a founding pillar of The Elder Scrolls mythology and we send our condolences to her family.
2025 Year in Review — January 12, 2026
We've released our look back at 2025. That was our 30th anniversary, and we're looking forward to even more! Inside this retrospective we take a look at what you have all been enjoying from our site, which in this case was mainly our old Oblivion pages for some reason. We also talked about our ongoing war with bots to bring you site stability. That battle has been heating up, so you may want to read up on what is happening.
We also took some time to look back. One of the biggest news story out of our site this year was developing an NPC for The Elder Scrolls VI. The cause for that charity campaign was to honor the legacy of one of the biggest contributors to the Elder Scrolls community, Loranna Pyrel. Over the course of the last year, we sadly lost many more important people to Elder Scrolls, including even the Father of the Elder Scrolls himself, Julian LeFay. This year we included a memorial section to honor the people who helped make The Elder Scrolls that passed away in 2025.
There are other important check points on our journey over the last year, including us beginning to host The Independent Fallout Wiki (a team we're very honored to want to partner with us), which we hope you enjoy reading about. Above all else, we want to thank you for choosing us to be your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995.

UESP Celebrates 30 Years! — November 7, 2025
Hello everyone, we are proud to announce that this month marks the 30th Anniversary of the UESP! 🎂 For three decades now, the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages has helped to keep the Elder Scrolls community up-to-date with all the latest information and contribute to the documentation of the franchise, first as an FAQ that began in the autumn of 1995, and later as a wiki starting in 2005. It has continued to grow and evolve since then, now standing at over 115,000 articles!
We would like to give a large thank you to all the editors and readers who have contributed so much to this project and made the site what it is today. We really don't know what else to say, since the club of sites that have been around that long is very, very small. Our gratitude towards everyone in the community cannot be stated enough!
Thank you for letting us be your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995 ![]()

Terence Stamp Passes Away Aged 87 — August 17, 2025
Terence Stamp, a veteran English actor with a career in film spanning six decades, has passed away this morning. Stamp voiced Mankar Camoran, one of the main antagonists in Oblivion. He was also known for his role as General Zod in Superman, and as a favor to Todd Howard said "Kneel before Todd" (seen in the Making of Oblivion Documentary) in the same tone as his iconic line from the film.
His performances have earned him Golden Globe and Cannes Film Festival awards as well as Oscar and BAFTA nominations. "He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and a writer that will continue to touch people for years to come," his family stated. Stamp had only done about ten voice roles throughout his career, but his performance as Mankar Camoran is widely considered one of the most iconic roles in the franchise to date. He will be dearly missed.

Emeric of Wayrest (also known as Emeric of Cumberland or Emeric Cumberland) was a member of the Cumberland Dynasty in the Second Era, and one of the major faction leaders of the Three Banners War. He was pivotal to the founding of the first Daggerfall Covenant, a defensive pact among all of High Rock's kingdoms against foreign threats, established after Emeric slew Durcorach the "Black Drake" and helped fend off his onslaught of Reachmen raiders circa 2E 541. As king of Wayrest, Emeric built an alliance through marrying the daughter of King Fahara'jad of Sentinel, Princess Maraya. He gained another ally through a war treaty he made with King Kurog gro-Bagrakh, promising the return of Orsinium to the Orcs. Emeric's conflict with King Ranser of Shornhelm led to the alliances he previously established coming to his aid, and they joined him in the formation of the Greater Daggerfall Covenant after Emeric's victory.
