Canalot is a castle-town in Dragon Quest IV.

It is built on water, located on a man-made island in the northwest corner of the map, and its inhabitants use gondolas to travel. One gondola is a weapon shop.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit | edit source]

The party visits in Chapter 5, when Canalot's King, Larfur, is offering a reward to anyone who can make him laugh. The party briefly returns to Laissez Fayre to recruit Tom Foolery, then returns, with the intention of having Tom use one of his funniest jokes on the king. But to everyone's surprise, Tom instead delivers an impassioned speech about the fast-encroaching horrors of Hell and the need of the Hero to combat them. The king relents and gives up the Zenithian helm.

Remake changes[edit | edit source]

  • While the church is empty at night in the NES version, the Sony PlayStation & Nintendo DS Version and up has a Cureslime named Guru Curu running it.
  • In the phone ports (iOS, Mobile and Android), after Prelvis Esley and Bones are recruited into the Pioneer Town, the later points the party to a potential innkeeper who is a woman in this town. She agrees to join the town after her dog is found on a nearby raft.
