Good news! It's time to start testing the new Major Update in the Unstable Branch. Before you jump in, make sure to read all the information below to know all about the process. If you want to wait for the stable version of the update that is all fine.

We have some big news to share! We've been working on the next Major Update, the upcoming update will be the 21st Major Update to the game and we will name it Beta 2.

The main role of the upcoming update is a new game mode called Station Mode. This update was something we had in mind already at the beginning of Early Access and has been much requested by you, our players. In addition to the Station Mode we will be doing smaller modifications as well as general improvements and polish to the game.

"CB" means "Civilian Base." So yes, I think what you have there is a buildable asteroid.

  • Improved the jobs assignment UI related to assigning crew members for jobs on facilities and blueprints.
  • Fixed a reported bug with Exodus fleet and the starmap fully explored.
  • Fixed a reported bug related to the Exodus fleet and the Path of Sin mission.
  • Fixed a reported bug with special characters in crew member name crashing the game on loading a saved game.

Greetings, Spacefarers!
We've spent the past couple of weeks updating the game frequently with bug fixes and polish. The newest version is now 0.20.0 Build 24. We hope you are enjoying the game, below is a list of updates we've made.

  • Builder pods can now be renamed.
  • Starfighters can now be renamed.
  • Mining pods can now be renamed.
  • Shuttles can now be renamed.
  • Solar heat from stars changed to cyclical in nature, altering between very hot and not so hot.
  • Added a big notification to show when a fire got started by some accident from a crew member.
  • Added missing translations.
  • Fixed many reported bugs.
To rename: Select the unit to be renamed and use the pencil icon from the lower left topic bar.

I love how you have the airlocks in the middle of your ship! How does that affect boarding parties though? I always try to place my airlocks in a spot that I can defend from, with cover and a killing zone for intruders.

"Internal" airlocks are one of those design choices that I think really help force a ship to avoid the curse of the pizza box.

Another is making every section of the ship a separate module delineated by hull, rather than by internal walls. It's one of those cases of adding a little extra challenge rather than optimizing the fun out of your own game.

Power security is one of the early-game scrambles. For my money, the X1 Power Generator is one of the earliest things you should research as it's literally more than twice as efficient as the basic power generator. You should work fairly aggressively toward the ore processor and energy refinery as well, but just that one switch should dramatically extend the time you have to work with.

Milestone Reached! Space Haven Enters Beta - Station Mode on the Horizon
Space Haven is ready to shed its Alpha label after 20 Major Updates. While not quite yet feature-complete, we feel we are close and will work on the remaining features for a 1.0 while in Beta.

Games like Space Haven can be worked on forever, a future 1.0 release does not mean we will stop improving on the game. It just means we are ready to move on from Early Access and finally feel content with calling the game a 1.0 release.

Does This Mean No More Updates?
Not at all! We’re simply moving past the Alpha tag after 20 Major Updates and starting to plan a 1.0 release. Next upcoming: Beta’s first Major Update with Station Mode. Yooo while we have you here, is alpha 20 ready for main branch? How "unstable" is the unstable version?

The last of the story content was delivered last week, and I have to say I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone reacts to it. At this point I believe there's still some translation and implementation to do, but I can't say more than that. Release timelines and build stability are emphatically not my department. :D

Glad to find you here in this part of the Galaxy. We have some news to share! We've been working in the background on the next Major Update. This next update will now mark the 20th Major Update for Space Haven. As such this update will be a big milestone for the game and also for us.

We've been working on something special for this update. The main role of this update will be the Exodus Fleet and a main quest line, comprised of missions that will build up a story for the Search of Eden.

We've once again turned to our skilled writer by the name of Hambone to write a storyline that is presented through dialogue between characters belonging to the Exodus Fleet.

Major Update 19 (Alpha 19) adds improvements and new content to a wide range of areas. A black market and an expanded contraband system, new crew combat weapons and weapon attachments such as flamethrowers and grenade launchers, stun weapons and many new items crew members can use, organ harvesting, alien parasites, learning computer, new furniture, a holy cow and more!
