Steelhead (often shortened to Steel) is an American ARMS player from St. Louis, Missouri. He is one of the founders of ARMS Central, one of the community's earliest major forums and Discord servers. In his prime, he was considered to be one of the best Max Brass players in North America.

Steelhead first discovered ARMS upon its initial announcement on January 12th, 2017. Excited about the new game, he and fellow Super Smash Bros. player Guts created a Discord server for ARMS. Despite initially being created for comedic and ironic purposes, the server grew considerably and eventually became larger than many other ARMS Discord communities. With help from members of the Pokkén Tournament community with moderation, as well as a partnership with the r/ARMS Discord server, the server was eventually renamed ARMS Central. Its goal was to serve as a central hub for ARMS communities while also functioning as a community of its own. ARMS Central continues to be used by many players and community members to this day.

Throughout 2017, following the release of ARMS, Steelhead helped create and foster a competitive offline ARMS scene in the St. Louis area. The region became one of the strongest local scenes for the game, with its events eventually culminating in Smash Out Hunger 2017 in December 2017. The event grew from a local tournament into a full-fledged ARMS major. Representing Neopunch, Steelhead won the event, defeating several of the top players in St. Louis, including HanukkahJamboree, N-Man, and Luna-Gabs. Shortly after the victory, he parted ways with Neopunch.

On February 4th, 2018, Steelhead formally announced his retirement from competitive play. He continued to occasionally attend locals and support the community during his retirement, including running a small tournament known as The Steel Trap in August 2019. However, he did not fully return to the community until early March 2020, shortly before the announcement of an ARMS character being added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Following his return, Steelhead competed in several online majors, including Bamboo Battles: Hibernation Arc and Quarantined Rapport 2. In July 2020, he began running more Steel Trap weekly tournaments, with himself and HanukkahJamboree providing commentary. The ARMS North American Open (August 2020) on August 8th, 2020, was the final tournament Steelhead competed in before leaving the ARMS scene and the game entirely.

Throughout his ARMS career, Steelhead established himself as one of the best players in North America. He was ranked #1 on the St. Louis ARMS Power Ranking numerous times. During his career, he was also a member of several notable esports organizations, including Empire Arcadia, BreakThrough eSports, and Milky Way eSports. After Milky Way eSports disbanded, Steelhead chose to remain unaffiliated, believing that being part of a team was unnecessary for ARMS. Despite being retired for a significant portion of ARMS competitive lifespan, Steelhead remains notable for his contributions to both the St. Louis scene and the wider ARMS community.

Playstyle

Steelhead plays more defensively than most Max Brass players. He uses Brass' permacharge to pressure opponents from a distance and control space. He mainly uses Brass' default ARMS, especially the Nade, but has also used custom ARMS such as the Chakram, Hydra, and Toaster.

Trivia

Steelhead's tag came to him spontaneously one day. He later realized how fitting it was, as he commonly uses Max Brass' silver alternate color. It also happens to connect with his favorite Street Fighter character, Q, who wears a metal mask covering his entire head.
Outside of ARMS, Steelhead's favorite games include Death Stranding and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Steelhead's highest placement on the ARMS Dashboard is #7.
