What's the point of the inner spans?
They have no attributes, so their content is not influenced in any way. Also the span around {{mark}} is redundant because Template:mark already expands into a span. (Seeing how the revision selection drop-down list affects a page source, I suppose the span around {{{1}}} might be used to extract the revision text. But surely this can be done without an extra span: just drop the last inner span (i.e. the {{mark}} one) out of the contents of the outer span.) Radix (talk) 14:25, 9 April 2020 (PDT)
