    Is there some government order notifying an 80th independence day? 2026 - 1947 = 79. Why is everyone calling it 80th? It's an anniversary. We've not become independent 80 times. That happened just once in 1947. Today marks 79 years of being independent.

    A tap in a Ladakh village was left running all winter. If you close it the water inside freezes, and the pipe bursts. So it dripped all day, and the water pooled on the ground and turned into a sheet of ice. A retired engineer sat in his garden looking at that ice, and worked

    When I was a younger person, I learnt a mind-blowing fact about life in the times of my grandparents: computers were once humans, not machines. It was a job title! My grandchildren will be amazed to learn I made a living as a computer programmer. How artisanal!
