The largest county to ever vote for a Socialist candidate for President was Crawford County, KS in 1912. Eugene Debs, who lived in the county seat of Girard, won the Southeast Kansas county, fueled by the votes of the lead and zinc miners near the Missouri border.

Sedgwick County 1912! Roosevelt (P) - 6546 votes - 45.1% Wilson (D) - 5752 votes - 39.6% Taft (R) - 1419 votes - 9.8% Debs (S) - 804 votes - 5.5%

Shawnee County in 1912! Wilson (D) - 5094 votes - 38.8% Roosevelt (P) - 4057 votes - 30.9% Taft (R) - 3592 votes - 27.3% Debs (S) - 398 votes - 3.0%

I think the next election I will go out and get the data for is the 1912 election in KS. There were two very interesting elections that year - the presidential election (where 4 different candidates won counties, including Debs) and a Women's Suffrage amendment that passed 52-48
