NIH-supported research at @Stanford that investigates how our brain works as we age could lead to new therapies for Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders.
An NIH-funded study indicates that some bone-marrow derived cells in circulation penetrate the walls of the blood-brain barrier as we age. The new research linked these outsiders, which adopt immune behaviors in the brain, with reduced risk of Alzheimer’s disease.
