You're a goddamn genius and deserve everything good in life.
You deserve the world for making this. I had a playlist with like 500 songs that has 200 duplicates! Love you.
Works better than Spotify's. Thank you!
This is AMAZING!! I was looking all over the internet for something like this and nothing could process my 9k+ song playlists, thank you so much!
Owe you my life for your dupe remover. Going through 10k songs manually would have been a nightmare. :')
Absolutely brilliant — just got rid of about 4000 songs from my 55 playlists!!!!
Incredible! This solved a massive problem that was taking me forever to fix (3000 songs in one playlist alone had somehow duplicated themselves! Cmon Spotify) you sir are a legend!
You're amazing, used your duplicate song finder to get rid of 312 mistakes in my playlist, would've taken me days to find them all.
Amazing! Cleaned almost 20% of my library :)
Thank you for making it so easy and painless to clean up my Spotify playlists after switching back from Apple Music!
Thanks man, this helped me clean up a playlist transfer from Apple Music that I didn't do correctly.
Thanks a lot, you saved my day!! After an export Deezer » Spotify which went nuts, I ended up with a playlist with thousands of duplicates of nearly 10 years of playlist creation. You really made a super efficient and pure service software! Thanks so much :-)!
Spotify glitched and duped every playlist multiple times. Removing manually would have been a Herculean task. Googled "removed duplicates from Spotify playlist." Dedup came up. It worked perfectly. Thank you.
What a lifesaver... literally saved me a day of playlist hoovering.
This tool has saved me soooo many hours and with my OCD of having duplicate songs, so thank you 😸😸
This has bugged me for YEARS. Thank you.
I've been putting off getting rid of duplicate songs in playlists for years now haha. This saved me so much time and took less than a minute to remove dupes. Thank you so much!
Thanks for deduping my Spotify playlists in seconds, what a great invention! 🙏🏽
Great tool, thank you. Hopefully you did not destroy my playlists 😂
I use this all the time, I'm always curating my playlist. And when I'm finished I run dedup! I love it.
I use dedup all the time! I wish Spotify would consistently not let you add dupes, so thank goodness for engineers like you fixing their problems for the user :)
I've been using this app for a few years and still loving it. Thank you so much for this app.
This is exactly what I needed. So glad there are others out there who believe a good playlist should not only be curated but be treated like a database and regularly maintained.
Thanks again for all the effort and time you put into this project! I had forgotten about it until I got your update email, and I'm continually impressed at the skill and dedication! 👏👏👏
I'm really impressed with the improvements! The advanced features are working perfectly—they now catch even more duplicates, and with much higher accuracy than before.
Frequently asked questions
What does this web application do?
Spotify Dedup helps you clean up your music libraries on Spotify by identifying and deleting duplicate songs across playlists and liked songs.
How does it find duplicates?
Dedup finds duplicates based on id, title, artist, and duration similarity. You can customize the matching criteria in 'Advanced Options' to use stricter or fuzzier matching rules.
How is Dedup better than Spotify's built-in duplicate detection?
Spotify's applications only warn about duplicates when adding a song to a playlit or liked songs with the exact same song identifier. However, the same song can have multiple identifiers on Spotify that both in the same release or in several ones. Dedup detects duplicates based on title, artist, and duration similarity.
When duplicates are found, which songs are removed?
By default, Dedup keeps the oldest song (the first one added) in a group of duplicates and removing the rest. You can change this behavior in 'Advanced Options' to keep the newest song instead.
Is my data safe with this web application?
We only collect what's needed to run the app: your Spotify id, display name and email when you log in, plus name and email if you donate. See our Privacy Policy for the full list and how to ask for deletion.
What permissions does this web application require?
This web application uses Spotify's authentication service to access your liked songs and playlists in your library.
How has this tool been tested?
This tool has been battle-tested by thousands of users who have used it to identify duplicates in millions of playlists since 2014.
Can this tool delete duplicates across multiple playlists?
Yes. After your library is scanned, switch to the 'Across Playlists' mode, pick two or more playlists (or include liked songs), and Dedup will surface every song that appears in more than one of them. For each match you choose which playlist keeps the song (or keep all copies); the rest are removed in one go.
How can I revoke the permissions granted to this web application?
You can revoke the permissions granted to this web application at any time on your Spotify account, under the 'Apps' section.
Does this tool work with other music streaming services?
No, this tool only works with Spotify through Spotify's Web API.
Why do duplicate songs appear in Spotify?
Duplicates can appear when you add the same song from different releases or regional versions, when you merge playlists, or when multiple people add the same track to a collaborative playlist. Because Spotify sometimes assigns different track IDs to the same song across releases, two copies can look identical but be treated as different tracks.
Can Spotify Dedup remove duplicates from my liked songs?
Yes. Spotify Dedup scans your liked songs collection alongside all your playlists. Any duplicates found in liked songs are displayed for review so you can remove them in one click — just like with regular playlists.
Can I undo a duplicate removal?
No. Dedup asks you to review and confirm before anything is removed, but once tracks are deleted there is no undo — neither in this tool nor in Spotify's apps. If you deleted an entire playlist you can restore it from your Spotify account page, and Spotify Support may be able to recover an earlier version of a playlist.
