Welcome to WashU Neuroprep Bridge
Over the past four years, the WU Neuroprep Postbaccalaureate Program has created a collaborative training environment built across campus-wide connections. Its goal is to prepare and promote talented recent college graduates over a two-year training period to enter competitive neuroscience graduate programs. Beginning this year, Neuroprep Bridge is an interim continuation of the original Postbacc Program, created to sustain the Program’s mission while we await the opportunity to apply for new NIH funding opportunities.
The Bridge Program will maintain the core elements that have made Neuroprep successful: hands-on neuroscience research training, individualized mentorship, professional development, and broad engagement with the WashU neuroscience community. Bridge Program members will be employed by individual WU laboratories that affiliate with Neuroprep; outside of laboratory activities, trainees will spend 2-3 hrs a week engaged with Program workshops and Neuroscience instruction. Program members will also be advised by dedicated Research Advisory committees and travel to attend and (in the 2nd year) present their work at the Society for Neuroscience Annual Conference. Workshops will introduce critical Professional Skills, as well as the Mechanics of Graduate School Applications.

The core components of the Neuroprep program are tailored and meaningful research experiences, Neuroprep custom workshops, mentoring, and study support. We help trainees navigate the graduate school application process with information and advice and provide networking experiences so our participants gain a sense of confidence and community as scientists. One-on-one advising aids trainees on topics such as navigating the mentor-mentee relationship, study and time management, and becoming adjusted to the local academic culture.
