What parts of Modrinth is your feature request related too?
Modrinth App
Is your suggested feature related to a problem? Please describe.
This started out as my personal issue with the shared instance feature. I was reinstalling Modrinth App in another Linux distro and i copied my ModrinthApp folder, pasted it in my new distro, and when i logged in again the shared instance that i managed is gone!
So these the instances on my friend's launcher are now orphaned, i guess. or laid off.
Describe the solution you'd like
Initially I only thought of shared instances, but what if we have the ability to synchronize any instances you have to your Modrinth account? This means that in any situation where you have to fresh install Modrinth App, your instances are there when you need it, and you only need to install the Minecraft version and/or Java.
I know Modrinth isn't a cloud service, but I believe you guys can pull this off. Mainly because you can just only store the metadata of the mods & resource packs and store a little more extra with overrides like can always do with .mrpack
And maybe even make it so you have to pay after a certain amount of instances are being synced! like maybe after 10 instances, you'd have to pay for Modrinth+ or smth. so there's clearly some money you can make here!
Describe alternatives you've considered
- Only add the sync ability for shared instances, but please make it fully free.
- For the monetization aspect: maybe make it so you can only add a certain dozen amount of MB of override files before hitting the paywall.
