Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences

Building a Strong Foundation for a Successful Future

As WSU Applebaum’s only direct-admit program, the Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Sciences (BSAHS) degree connects students with the college and its graduate programs during their very first year at Wayne State.

This interdisciplinary degree program is designed for students with a strong interest in the health sciences. Graduates develop the knowledge and skills necessary for success in both professional health science programs and entry-level positions within the healthcare field.

Graduates will emerge with a strong foundation in:

  • Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Communication within a health care setting
  • Interdisciplinary patient care
  • Critical thinking and writing
  • Ethics
  • Robust preparation across the health sciences continuum

The curriculum consists of a variety of pathways that prepare students for application to a health science professional program or serve as a stand-alone degree leading to employment in a range of healthcare settings.
