It depends a lot on what features you're using (and within some features like Write and Draft, which model you pick.)
We try to give folks a ton of flexibility. So if you're experimenting, you can pick models in Write and Draft that are 100x cheaper than others. And some features in the paid subscription do not use credits at all (chat, import report, related words, etc.)
Also if you run out in the trial and didn't get enough time to try it out, drop support an email (hi@sudowrite.com) and they're pretty helpful giving you more credits.

I can't speak for Claude projects, but Sudowrite does pull in story bible information for any named entities in your beats automatically. (It will underline the ones it's detected as you write to show you which ones will be pulled in.)
One of the best writing models out there is Sudowrite's muse model, which was likely trained atop a tiny model for foundational understanding, and then given a bunch of well curated writing-specific training pairs to make it only good at a single thing. But it's a small and efficient model
FYI, Muse is not a small model, though I wish it were as it would make it a lot cheaper to run!
