DICT's mini museum is on the ground floor of the Department's premises along C.P. Garcia Ave, in U.P. Diliman, right between the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and PHIVOLCS. It isn't much. Most of it is computers and peripherals that the department in it's previous incarnations probably junked since the 1970s until recently. Sadly, not much care is given to the displays.

Retro Computer Groups and Demoscene in the Philippines

Majority of home computers in the Philippines in the 80s were probably Apple II/II+ clones from Taiwan. Virra Mall was known as "computer divisoria" back then and almost all the shops on the 2nd floor sold these clones. Shoppesville also had its share of computer shops. Atari had a presence too, primarily because of the VCS, but they did have a local distributor of their computer line with their showroom at Sunvar Plaza. There was even an Atari User Group led by Subas Herrero that would have meetings up until the mid-90s. Commodore's first presence was the VIC-20 one Christmas (probably redirected from Japan since they were labeled VIC-1001 [VIC-20's branding in the Japanese market]) then followed by the C64. Two of the biggest software pirates back then were Brochiere and Dataventure (aka Data Vulture), where you could copy software on floppy disk for cash or TRADE, along with photocopied manuals. You could get titles for Apple II+, Atari 800 and C64. TRS-80 wasn't that popular, although it was sold too.

Sadly, there aren't that many folk here that are into retro computing. Retro gaming, yes, but not retro computing.
