  • Just this Monday, didn’t Claude wipe an entire company’s prod database AND backups? The reason it could being that someone gave it the prod token because it was faster than asking for one with the right permissions?

And then it just “hallucinated” that the correct solution would be to wipe the drive, costing this company like millions?

  • I hate the reductive smart devices argument.

Of course it’s fine to have an app that can turn on my lights! It just can’t be the ONLY way and it can’t REQUIRE A CLOUD SERVICE TO FUNCTION.

I’ve had some smart lights last me over 10 years, they dim in any fixture, they change color when my daughter and her little friends want a dance party, and they can automatically turn on when I arrive home at night and need to unlock the back door. Local control without a cloud. Not a fucking thing wrong with that.

  • Just remember that LLMs are good at one thing: summarizing large volumes of text with reasonable confidence.

AI isn’t a product for you. AI is a wet dream for the companies that built profiles on you.

The giant datacenters that steal away all the drinking water are there in order to “read your mind”. They know what you are and what you want before you do.

And this is so beyond advertising. Imagine having the power to understand the collective minds of most of humanity at once. Imagine being able to influence it.

They are even talking about building hives and becoming the queen bees. (Look up “network cities” or “Freedom cities”)

Everything is in the cloud now, including your personal and business documents. All software is a service. You can’t afford your own computer anymore, you don’t even have one of those old-fashioned things. You just have a tablet, and a phone. “I’m not a nerd, it’s all I need. That other stuff is too much work, I like how simple this is.”

  • Specifically “copyright infringement”; as in you infringed on the right of the owner to dictate how and when their copy is duplicated.

It sounds necessary but “I’m the only one allowed my idea” is such a problematic concept, especially in the Information Age, it’s amazing how it’s used for some of the most egregiously greedy things.

The penalties should honestly be almost nothing.
