A Great textbook of archaeology
Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2013Fantastic textbook. Although a multi-authored book, there is clear homogeneity in the presentation of the various chapters. The illustrations are really beautiful, it is almost an art book. It is a must have for who is interested in archaeology. It spans a period of several millions years. All the major archaeological sites are described, I recommend really to buy the latest edition, although older editions are available at discount price. The latest developments, like the sequencing of neanderthal DNA and others are discussed in this new edition and this is fascinating. Archaeology is really a science on the move.

Great vlaue, and great book!
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2020Great book at a crazy cheap price! Mine isn’t really worn at all, all pages are there, and is clean inside. I payed $16 for this book and I own it, much nicer than renting one from the college for $50 a semester.

Perfect Condition and On-Time Delivery!
Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2018Textbook is in perfect condition, and it arrived before classes started, which was amazing, because that is something I am always worried about, regardless of what the "expected arrival" date is.
Plus, the layout of the textbook is very easy to follow, and it is organized very well. I've used a lot of textbooks for my anthropology courses that are all over the place with the organization, or the image-to-text balance is disappointing. This one is very easily read, and it has an aesthetically pleasing balance to it--so you're not just slogging through awkward and dry chunks of text.

Renting this, I expected it to be newer...
Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2014It works fine all right it's just got highlighted passages already, which to be fair does make studying a little bit easier so I'm not complaining. I also don't feel like i have to worry about causing it wear as much as I normally would for a rented textbook.

George Rowson5 out of 5 starsExcellent for any student or person interested in archaeology
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 30, 2016'The Human Past' is an excellent book, and very accessible to anybody. Having just started university after studying with this book for 2 years at college, I find that I am still using it and that it is recommended reading for the course. It is full of useful information and easily understood by even an amateur interested in the subject.
